Becker County is one of the largest recreational destinations in Minnesota, offering the Detroit Mountain Recreational Area, over 400 area lakes for fishing and recreation such as ATV and snowmobile hundreds of miles of trails, two state forests, Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge, and numerous parks, over 170,000 acres of public hunting land, WE Fest County Music Festival, and many community celebration events that occur year-rounds.

Officers will work 7 out of 14 days (12-hour shifts) and have every other weekend off. Your weekend off will be a 5-day stretch! Becker County Sheriff's Office offers advancement and other enrichment opportunities such as Lieutenant, Patrol Sergeant, K9, SWAT, Drone Operator, Criminal Investigations, Task Force, Boat and Water, Civil Service, Emergency Management, Internal Trainers, and community engagement. We also offer overtime opportunities through traffic, boat and water, ATV, and snowmobile enforcement. County will pay the cost of uniform and equipment for newly hired employees. Employees also receive a yearly uniform allowance.

Qualifications:
Minimum of two years of post-secondary formal education in law enforcement, criminal justice, or similar field by September 1, 2024. Must be licensed or eligible to be licensed by MN POST  Board upon hire. Must possess a valid driver’s license. 

Duties:
Assists in investigating criminal and civil crimes; participates in jail security; and responds to various calls to enforce laws; and conducts procedures according to department policies and procedures.

Compensation & Benefits:
New salary rang is approved $30.63-$42.19 per hour - depending on experience and qualifications. 
This position is eligible for a wide range of competitive benefits, including state pension plan, vacation time, sick time, personal and holiday leave time in accordance with their specific union contract. In addition, the position is eligible for the County's health plan, consisting of carrier options; Dental, Vision, and Life insurance; Health Savings and Flexible Spending accounts; Long-term and Short-Term Disability; Supplemental Accident, Hospital, and Critical Illness plans; and Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program. The County contributes monthly health benefits to aide in the rising of insurance costs with the contribution rate evaluated annually. Additionally, employees have the option to take part of this $749.14 contribution as cash in lieu of benefits.
